ISO 37301 Compliance certification 

The ISO 37301 standard on compliance management systems, the successor to the ISO 19600 standard, specifies requirements and will provide guidance for establishing, developing, implementing, evaluating, maintaining and improving an effective compliance management system within an organisation. 

The requirements of the standard are intended to be applicable to all organisations, regardless of type, size and nature of activity, whether they belong to the public or private sector: public administrations and companies, foundations, NGOs, football clubs, political parties, etc. 

The ISO 37301 standard adopts, like the other compliance standards, the high-level structure (HLS) developed by ISO to improve alignment between its national and international management system standards. This means that organisations that already have other standards in place such as UNE 19601, ISO 37001, ISO 14001 or ISO 27001 can easily integrate their management systems into a compliance superstructure following the ISO 37301 standard. 

The ISO 37301 standard can be used both to generate compliance superstructures that encompass the control and compliance of different areas of obligations under a single structure (corporate crime prevention, environmental compliance, data protection, etc.), and to bring under its structure a specific area of obligations for which an organisation wants to create a control environment under internationally recognised practices (e.g. compliance with competition law or prevention of money laundering). 

This International Standard is based on the principles of good governance, proportionality, transparency and sustainability and is classified as a type A management system standard, i.e. its actual implementation can be assessed through certification audits carried out by certification bodies such as EQA.
