FES-C02 Carbon Fund
The FES-CO2 Fund is aimed at organisations with technological innovation projects with significant mitigation potential and small and medium scale emission reduction projects.
This instrument allows promoters to rely on other types of financial support for the development of their projects. In this way, revenues received from the sale of verified emission reductions to the FES-CO2 can be linked to other project financing instruments.
Each year the number of approved emission reduction projects increases, which contribute to Spain’s progress towards a sustainable economy.
Climate Projects
The Climate Projects are a Spanish financing instrument, Royal Decree 1494/2011, promoted through the FES-CO2, whose objective is to redirect economic activity towards low-carbon, climate-resilient models and with the aim of contributing to the reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions assumed by Spain. They also promote technological development for decarbonisation.
Organisations receive an economic benefit through their application.
Verification of Climate Projects with EQA
EQA is accredited by ENAC, nº 06/VCDE010, for the Verification of European Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme Reports on the monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions in application of Directive 2003/87/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.
EQA guarantees the accuracy of the verified data, ensuring a transparent and consistent verification process, always complying with the guidelines established by FES-CO2 in the Manual for the verification of Emission Reduction Climate Projects.
Objectives of Climate Projects
- To promote CO2 emission reduction projects in Spain.
- Promote innovation in technologies, processes or products with significant potential to reduce GHG emissions.
- To mobilise climate finance, offering financing to eligible projects through the purchase of greenhouse gas emission reductions (carbon credits).
